Habitat Success Stories

Robinson Family

My name is Anna Robinson, and I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. I have two daughters and 3 grandchildren (all boys). I raised my kids in the old St. Thomas Project. I moved to a rental property in Central City before the St. Thomas Project was demolished. I lived in that house until Hurricane Katrina, when I was rescued and transported to a shelter in Texas. Upon my return, sometime in 2006, I lived with one of my daughters and her step-sister-in-law.

I shortly started living with one of my grandson’s at River Garden Apartments and got a job at the neighborhood Walmart I always wanted to be a homeowner, and all I knew was the word “RENT.”One of my daughters has purchased a house through NOAHH in New Orleans East. I then decided to try, but when I first applied my credit was “slow.” I worked hard to qualify because I never gave up. I applied 3 times until NOAHH approved my file. It has been an unbelievable experience. With the help of the nicest people–NOAHH Staff–I will be able to own a home. My dream is coming true! I thank every day to NOAHH for a great opportunity.
