After a decade on Royal Street, New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore will relocate to a more-modern facility centrally located on Elysian Fields between I-10 and I-610. The new 15,000 square foot facility will offer an enhanced shopping experience for locals with an expanded inventory of building materials and furniture along with convenient parking opportunities.
The building on Elysian Fields was most recently a mini-storage and cabinet dealer retail store. The facility has been renovated and improvements made to the exterior as well as the interior. When completed, phase I includes the completion of the 15,000 square foot retail space for the New Orleans Habitat’s ReStore, retail and warehouse space for Farrell Calhoun Paint Store, and warehouse space for New Orleans Habitat for Humanity’s building operations. Phase II is scheduled to be completed by March, 2013 will include build out of offices for New Orleans Habitat’s administration offices which handle accounting, volunteer services, family services, development, communications and administration.
“The new location is perfect for Habitat’s ReStore,” stated Jim Pate, Executive Director, New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity. “The urban corridor on Elysian Fields is a great location for the ReStore’s expansion,” added Pate. “Additionally, the ReStore is primed for growth in revenues and donations with a more organized procurement and marketing focus.”
