I Came, I Saw, I Gave Back

Bill Baumann has worked for Freud Tools in New Orleans for five years now, selling Diablo saw blades that NOAHH uses. He admired Habitat’s work with local families for years and reached out to Habitat to learn how he and his employer could become involved in our mission. “Our organizations are a great complement to each other,” he said, “At Freud, we aspire to not only be good for the worker, but good for the world.”

He attended Cole Williams’ home dedication in January and was impressed by the commitment of the home-buyers, the quality of the homes, and the ways in which the organization makes them affordable. “Having an economics background, I like to see those organizations that can build a community from the ground up, to help promote a sustainable, financially positive environment for individuals,” he said.

Baumann arranged for Freud Tools to donate six months’ worth of replacement blades to use on Habitat build sites and is in the process of organizing a volunteer day for his coworkers. He said that he looks forward to Freud’s gift rippling throughout the city of New Orleans.

“That little bit of effort, that little bit of money actually builds a system to keep perpetuating for future generations,” he said, “it’s a great way to leverage anything that you give, whether it’s volunteerism, money or both.”
