The town of Jean Lafitte was severely impacted by Hurricane Ida. A small community south of New Orleans, it has deep roots and has shown great resilience through many storms before.
New Orleans Habitat has partnered with Rural Studios at Auburn University to design homes that will meet the needs of a community like Jean Lafitte to better protect them from storms.
With strategic partnerships, we are reducing the cost of the homes through donated materials, and a remote location has been set up to coordinate our efforts there. In the coming years, NOAHH will build more than 40 homes with these new designs.
