Habitat Success Stories

Wilson Family

My name is Doris Myles Wilson and I am Senior Citizen and a proud NOAHH partner family. I was born and raised  by  both, my mom and grandmother in New Orleans and to be more specific in the Treme and Laffite Project. I am retired from Auderer Dental Laboratory, where I worked as a billing clerk for 15 years.

I attended New Orleans Public Schools. Unfortunately, my mom, grandmother and a sister are now deceased. However, I have three children, one son and two daughters. They are grown now and I live by myself in a Senior Apartment, paying rent.  I also attend regular Sunday mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in New Orleans.

I, now, have a chance to be a Happy Home Owner, to my delight with the help of New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity and all of the wonderful staff who work in the organization. I am and will always be forever grateful, especially since the terrible “ordeal” of Hurricane Katrina, moving from place to place.

Once again, I can’t thank enough to the Staff at NOAHH for giving me the opportunity to buy a home.
