Habitat Success Stories

Williams Family

On September 11, 1961, Karen A Lincoln was born in New Orleans, LA to Marie Gibbs and Johnny Batiste. Also Theodore Williams, my husband was born in New Orleans, LA. To Alice Williams and Theodore Maurice. I was raised by my mother for the first years of my life, thereafter; Mr. & Mrs. Dewitt & Joyce Perkins raised me the rest of my childhood. My husband and I were both raised in the Desire Housing Project which at that time was a very rough area. We both graduated from G.W. Carver High School.
As a teenager I had many hardships. I am a proud mother of three beautiful children and two step-children. Therefore we have five in all with 7 grandchildren. What a blessing. I am presently employed at LSUHSC. My husband is a proud veteran. We have always wanted to be homeowners. Habitat for Humanity has allowed us to do just that. Since we have been part of this caring organization, our lives have taken a 360. Not only does Habitat help low-income families, they also build brand new lives. Thanks to Habitat for Humanity for making our dreams come true.
