Habitat Success Stories

White Family

My name is Kearra White and I am 27 years old. I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. I never thought my life would go this way, after Hurricane Katrina. I was in foster care at the worst time, as a teen girl without my family, until I met my husband, Thomas White. He is from Seattle, Washington. He did not have a great life either as he was growing up, because his parents divorced when he was 14 years old. They moved to New Orleans thereafter.

We met on December 25, 2010. Now we have two beautiful children-Tom’mia, daughter, 2 years old and Little Thomas, son, 4 years old. As a young married couple, we thought that it was best for us to become homeowners, rather than continue renting. We applied to New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity and were very fortunate to get approved in the course of two  weeks. We are so happy that this organization is “MAKING OUR DREAM COME TRUE.”
