Habitat Success Stories

Price Family

My name is Leonard Price, Sr. I work for the City of New Orleans and I love my job. I was born and raised in New Orleans (Algiers, West Bank). I am divorced and I have 5 children. My daughter is currently 20 years old and my 4 boys are 18, 17, 14, and 12.

I have been working for the City of New Orleans for the last 3 and a half years as an operator driver. I love my job and the people I work with. In fact, one of my co-workers, recommended I apply to Habitat.

I have been through so much in the last few years- from sleeping in the streets to crashing family members and friends’ homes. “Having a roof over my head, without being my own,” went through my head even in my dreams.

My children are also very excited because they will be able to come to my own house and visit and spend the weekend. They are even helping me with my hours.

Buying a house always seemed to be a very difficult task. Again, I was very fortunate that I met the Folks at NOAHH. They walked me through the process and my dreams are now so different.  I can’t thank enough this wonderful people and organization who help people like me become a homeowner.
