Women Build

Habitat for Humanity's Women Build program promotes the involvement of women in the construction of Habitat houses.  New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity has constructed three Women Build homes since 2003.  The 2008 Lowe's Sponsored Women Build House was finished in April on the Westbank of New Orleans.  In addition, a group of women from the Boston area also came together to sponsor a house with NOAHH.  The Boston Women Build house, located in the Musicians' Village, was completed in December 2008.

The Women Build program was started by Habitat for Humanity International and has been very succesful at Habitat affiliates around the world.  Since 2003, the program has more than doubled in size. To date, women crews have built nearly 800 Habitat for Humanity homes in 14 countries, and the program is growing across international borders to empower women everywhere to address the problem of poverty housing for themselves, their families and their neighbors.

Plans for the next Women Build are still in the works. Check back to the website for updates on sponsorship and volunteer opporutnities.
