Hoops for Homes

The NBA's New Orleans Hornets have partnered with New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity in a campaign called "Hoops for Homes" to build 20 homes within the next year.
2040 Delachaise
The campaign was launched on November 20, 2005 with the NBA Legends Build at the Winston’s' house at 2040 Delachaise. Basketball giants such as Bob Pettit, Willis Reed, Bob Lanier, Artis Gilmore and Bill Walton from the NBA, as well as stars Temeka Johnson and Tamika Catchings from the WNBA, put down their basketballs and took up hammers and nails to help in construction of the first house at 2040 Delachaise. The Winston family received the keys to their new home at a dedication ceremony attended by Hornets Owner George Shinn, and scores of volunteers and leaders from the community.
