Partnering with the NFL for the Super Saturday of Service as part of its community involvement for Super Bowl XLVII, NOAHH lead hundreds of volunteers on several sites throughout the city of New Orleans in improving certain public city parks. Joining NOAHH were Hike for KaTREEna, Green Light New Orleans, Samaritan’s Feet, NFL Play 60, and KaBOOM!
Volunteers and NOAHH staff built and painted benches and tables, while other groups planted trees, cleared overgrowth, and contributed other improvements to Hunter’s Field, Kingswood Playground, Lyon’s Center, Palmer Park, and Pontchartrain Park. Green Light New Orleans organized distribution of energy-friendly light bulbs in the area, and Samaritan’s Feet gave out hundreds of pairs of shoes to neighborhood children while NFL Play 60 brought NFL players out to lead the children in a day of sports and games.
