(August 23, 2011) - On Tuesday, August 23, 2011, New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH) dedicated a new home sponsored by the Marriott Corporation on Feliciana Street in the Upper Ninth Ward for partner family member Kenneth Hagans.

Homeowner Kenneth Hagans is the father of three children and ten grandchildren.  He is employed at the Ritz Carlton, New Orleans and is appreciative of the support from the Marriott Corporation not only in funding the home, but also in supporting his sweat-equity efforts. Hagans just celebrated his 11th anniversary with the hotel and now, he has an even bigger reason to celebrate. He is the second sibling in his family to achieve homeownership.  “I’ve always wanted to be a homeowner,” stated Kenneth Hagans.  “And now that I have achieved that, I plan to return to college and get a degree in accounting,” Marriott Corporation has supported New Orleans Habitat for Humanity  by sponsoring two homes and contributing over 8,000 hours of volunteer time building homes throughout our service area.

New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization.  NOAHH builds new houses in partnership with sponsors, volunteers, communities, and homeowner families to eliminate poverty housing in the New Orleans area while serving as a catalyst to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.  Since its inception in 1983 NOAHH has built 538 homes for low-income families in need of adequate shelter. NOAHH plans to continue to build homes in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Charles and Plaquemines Parishes.
