New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity believes that housing is a key factor in revitalizing the city of New Orleans. With continued financial support, we will build homes and transform neighborhoods. Most importantly, we help deserving families permanently lift themselves out of poverty. The impact of improving the housing situation for one family has parallel effects.

Many partner families have returned to college, purchased a more reliable vehicle or started a college fund for their children. By removing the stressors related to poverty housing our partner families are able to fulfill dreams that have been put on hold due to inflated rents and other unstable living situations.

When you become a sustaining donor we can better predict our funding and can more efficiently allocate funds to those who need it most.

We currently build over 30 homes per year. The  timeline below demonstrates how your planned gifts helps make each step possible:

• 6-8 homes are under construction at any given time
• The build cycle of a home is 12-16 weeks
• Each home under construction is at a different stage and has varying needs from foundation and windows to drywall and baseboards.

Our monthly donors are dedicated and compassionate friends who agree to give as little as $10 a month to provide ongoing support for materials, educated staff and the incorporation of green building practices.
