Get Rewarded by Disney to Volunteer with New Orleans Habitat for Humanity

New Orleans, LA (January 1, 2010) – In 2010, Disney wants to inspire one million people to volunteer a day of service to a participating organization in their communities and celebrate their good works by giving each of them one-day admission to a theme park at Disneyland® Resort or Walt Disney World® Resort, free. New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH) is one of the organizations providing eligible volunteer opportunities for the program.

On January 1, 2010, guests began to go to www.disneyparks.com and search for volunteer opportunities and sign up for a day of volunteer service. Volunteers are required to sign up through the DisneyParks.com website in order to receive a free ticket. Ticket quantities for this program are limited. The program began January 1, 2010 and continues until all tickets are distributed or December 15, 2010, whichever occurs first.
“The opportunity for a free Disney ticket adds to an already satisfying volunteer opportunity with New Orleans Habitat,” stated Melissa Manusellis, NOAHH Volunteer Coordinator. “We’ve are proud to be part of the Disney program.”

NOAHH’s volunteer program provides a hands-on experience for experienced and non-experienced builders the opportunity to gain valuable skills, while helping those in need of simple, decent, affordable housing. Volunteer opportunities include construction, administrative office work as well as working at the ReStore.
Volunteers are a fundamental to our success,” stated Jim Pate, executive director of NOAHH. “Without them we would not have helped so many families find stability in homeownership.”

New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. NOAHH builds new houses in partnership with sponsors, volunteers, communities, and homeowner families to eliminate poverty housing in the New Orleans area while serving as a catalyst to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Since its inception in 1983 NOAHH has built over 380 new homes for low-income families in need of adequate shelter. NOAHH plans to continue to build homes in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Charles and Plaquemines Parishes. www.habitat-nola.org
