NOAHH Names New Board Members for 2010

New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity Appoints
Eight New Board Members
Board Elects New Executive Committee

February 3, 2010 (NEW ORLEANS, LA). The Board of Directors of New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH) has appointed eight new board members who will serve a term of three years. New board members include Joe Blanchek, Steven Dugal, Lacey Vicknair Momic, Aimee Quick, Dodie Smith, Shaun Talbot, Jody Towers, and William Wolf.

Joe Blanchek is General Manager of the New Orleans Marriott Convention Center Hotel and has 30 years experience in the hospitality industry. Through Marriott’s community involvement, Blanchek helped with fundraising and support for Children’s Hospital as well as developed projects with KaBoom! and NOAHH through the Greater New Orleans Hotel & Lodging Association.

Steven Dugal, managing partner at Northwestern Mutual in Metairie, is passionate about NOAHH and personally lobbied Northwestern Mutual to include NOAHH in their national giving campaign. He brings previous board experience and financial expertise to the table.
Lacey Vicknair Momić, former Croatian professional volleyball player, is a development officer and portfolio manager for Tulane University. Her work includes fundraising for Tulane and serving as a board member for many nonprofits.

Aimee Quirk is an attorney at Jones, Walker, Waechter, Poitevent, Carrere, and Denegre, LLP and has 13 years of experience in law. She is an officer of the local federal bar association, and she has experience as a law clerk with the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and working for members of Congress. She sits on the board of directors for many local associations and nonprofits.
Dodie Smith is partner and owner of C. Spencer Smith Architects. Her experience includes working with local and state government groups including the Vieux Carre Commission, Louisiana Recovery Authority, and board experience at Gallier House/Herman Grima Historic House Museums.

Shaun Talbot is Vice President of the Talbot Realty Group, founded by his family over 40 years ago. He has been with the firm since 1995 and has helped it grow into a multi-agent company by being a multi-million dollar producer for over a decade. Talbot has served on the board of several organizations, including the Warehouse Area Business Alliance.

Jody Towers, a management supervisor at Peter Mayer Advertising, has volunteered with NOAHH many times. Her work with various clients and projects has given her insights and experience that will provide exemplary support and guidance for NOAHH.

William Wolf , construction manager with Milton J Womack, has managed construction projects in Louisiana for the past five years. Wolf brings his understanding of construction and experience as a board member of a wide range of other nonprofits to his position

Additionally, the NOAHH Board elected officers for 2010: Bill Wright, Deutsch Kerrigan & Stiles – President; Chimene Connor, Audubon Institute – Vice President; Mike Flores, GCR & Associates – Vice President; Guy Williams, Gulf Coast Bank — Treasurer; and Katie Crosby, Fidelity Homestead Association – Secretary.

New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. NOAHH builds new houses in partnership with sponsors, volunteers, communities, and homeowner families to eliminate poverty housing in the New Orleans area while serving as a catalyst to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Since its inception in 1983 NOAHH has built over 380 new homes for low-income families in need of adequate shelter. NOAHH plans to continue to build homes in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Charles and Plaquemines Parishes. www.habitat-nola.org
