True Value Donates 17 Freightliners of Donations to New Orleans Habitat for Humanity
2009 True Value Marketplace Gives Back to the Community in Multiple Ways

March 30, 2009 (NEW ORLEANS, LA) Participants in the True Value Spring Market in New Orleans donated 17 full freightliners of tools and supplies to New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH) following the completion of their 2009 show. Additionally, over 150 True Value owners volunteered with NOAHH in the Upper Ninth Ward giving of their time and knowledge to help build affordable housing.

At the Spring 2008 Market in Jacksonville, FL, more than 12 freightliners of materials were donated to the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate.

Donations included tools, house wares, home furnishings and cleaning supplies. Many of the donated items were incorporated into NOAHH’s building practices and the remaining items were donated to the affiliate’s ReStore. The Habitat ReStore resells new and used items for 30% to 90% off retail prices. All profits from the Habitat ReStore are used to help Habitat build more homes in the New Orleans area.

“True Value’s generosity is overwhelming,” stated Jim Pate, executive director, NOAHH. “The wide-spread support of all their vendors was astounding – not only did they donate goods, but they put in some sweat equity alongside our construction staff.”

New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH), an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. NOAHH builds new houses in partnership with sponsors, volunteers, communities, and homeowner families to eliminate poverty housing in the New Orleans area while serving as a catalyst to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Since its inception in 1983, NOAHH has built over 314 new homes for low-income families in need of adequate shelter. NOAHH plans to continue to build in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines Parishes. www.habitat-nola.org
