Hornets Build Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth House with New Orleans Habitat

February 26, 2009 (NEW ORLEANS, LA) On Thursday, February 26, 2009, New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity joined with the New Orleans Hornets, special guests and volunteers to raise the walls to signify the beginning of three homes for the Richardson, Francois and Galloway families in New Orleans East.
The Hornets have partnered with New Orleans Habitat to build homes throughout New Orleans East with these homes being the 13th, 14th and 15th homes in Orleans Parish.
“We are very appreciative of the Hornets’ commitment to our families,” stated Jim Pate. “The city may have gained a top-notch basketball team; but we gained a long-term partner who is interested in making lives better for our families.”
New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. NOAHH builds new houses in partnership with sponsors, volunteers, communities, and homeowner families to eliminate poverty housing in the New Orleans area while serving as a catalyst to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Since its inception in 1983 NOAHH has built over 300 new homes for low-income families in need of adequate shelter. NOAHH plans to continue to build homes in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Charles and Plaquemines Parishes. www.habitat-nola.org
